can be prayers of humility before God and confession of sins before God with a request for mercy. In each prostration, a person confesses a sin and judges themselves before God, saying, “Have mercy on me, O God, for I have done such and such.” They can also be prayers of thanksgiving, where the person remembers God’s mercies upon them or their loved ones, and in each prostration, they recall some of God’s kindnesses. They can also be prayers of requests, where the person mentions everything they personally need or what they desire for others or for the church. Prostrations can be accompanied by any other type of prayer, such as: • O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me • O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, save me • O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, help me • I praise you, O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God • The Father is my hope, the Son is my refuge, and the Holy Spirit is my protector • I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am not worthy to be called your son, but make me as one of your hired servants • I have sinned as a man, have mercy on me, for you are a compassionate and merciful God • Have mercy on me, Son of David • Help my weak faith
