What to pray at times of distress?

In my voice, I cry out to the Lord, O God of mercy, your people are weary and find no one to show them compassion but you. Children are snatched away, and demons in the form of human beings steal organs. Corrupt, bribed, greedy, and hypocritical people surround us. Where can we go, O Lord? We have no refuge, for you are our refuge, our strength, and our help in the times of trouble that have befallen us. Therefore, we will not fear when the earth trembles and the mountains are overturned into the heart of the seas. O God of mercy, hear our cries. Who said, and the Lord did not command? Please protect us from the forces of evil and darkness, and the demons of this age who have stripped humanity from their hearts and have become stony-hearted. No one can melt these hearts but you. So do not forsake us, O God of mercy… O Lord, give comfort and peace to every wounded, sorrowful, and tempted soul. You said, “With the temptation, I give the way of escape,” and we await paths and a way out of all this fatigue and darkness that surrounds us. Please shine with your light so that we may see the light. We have nothing, O God, we are weak and poor, drowning in seas of sins, so save us and have mercy on your people whom you have acquired with your blood and had compassion on. O God of mercy, surround your people with a fiery fence, the sheep of your pastures, your children and daughters, the weak, and those who have no one to remember them.
